Physical Clinics: What Are Typical Clinical Depression Symptoms That Can Be Experienced?
Differentiating between clinical depression symptoms and manic depression symptoms is very important in order to figure out which of the two types of disorders a person is suffering from. Fortunately, these two sets of symptoms are quite different from each other, which is why identifying them is relatively easy. As a matter of fact, the symptoms of these two types of depression are almost the exact opposite of each other.
Identifying the Signs
In order to determine whether you are suffering from this disorder, there are several obvious signs that you should look for. Probably the most common clinical depression symptom is a combination of persistent sadness, hopelessness and complete loss of self-esteem. We are not referring to transitory feelings either. People who are clinically depressed will feel unnaturally sad and gloomy regardless of what is going on around them. In addition, they will also have drastically reduced interest even in activities that they used to enjoy, such as a favorite sport or hobby, or even sex with their partner.
Although it is fundamentally an emotional and mental issue, it also comes with a lot of physical manifestations. Among the most common physical clinical depression symptoms are sudden weight gain or weight loss. This is because some people who are depressed will turn to food and excessive eating in an attempt to fill up the sudden void in their lives, while others will simply be unable to eat at all. Interestingly, both of these common reactions will do nothing except to make the depression much worse. Overeating may make some people feel better but only on a temporary basis. Not eating, on the other hand, depletes the body’s energy levels, making a person feel more lethargic and depressed.
Pain Maybe Experienced
Pain in different parts of the body is also a common clinical depression symptom. For example, someone who is clinically depressed might experience chronic headaches, or may experience sporadic pain in the joints or in other parts of the body. It is not always clear what causes this physical pain but oftentimes, no medication or painkiller will be able to banish this pain.
This paves the way for a more serious side effect of depression, which is addiction to pain medication. When the desired result is not achieved, people that are depressed tend to take more of the medication, until they eventually get addicted to the substance. Unfortunately, this will only make the situation worse and cause much more serious clinical depression symptoms. If medication is required, a natural supplement is your best option, if at all possible, as there are no negative side effects.
