Question by alve: Does anyone know if you need a license to be a physical therapy AIDE/ attendant?
I just graduated and have my bachelors, I plan on doing PT in the future and wanted to know if I could start out as a PTA. Any info will help.

Yes.
Even an “aide” needs to be certified. It won’t be as “high a level”, but you need special training, and have to document that training, perhaps pass a state test too. (each state has different requirements)

Employers must show proof that employees are qualified to do their work around patients. If they didn’t have any, they might be sued for hiring someone who is not trained properly.
The certification process doesn’t guarantee you will do well, but it helps protect whomever hires you, they can blame the “state” which gave you certification.

You will have to have a police background check too, before the state grants you a license.

EDIT:
Mary is wrong. Who would certify that you “passed the exam”, or finished the schooling? The state! That’s what a “license” says/documents.
And this is pasted from my source as DUTIES of a PTA, much more than clerical, and “clean up.”

Physical therapist assistants work closely with physical therapists to alleviate patients’ pain, improve their mobility and lessen the symptoms of physical disabilities. A physical therapist assistant certificate program is the first step toward gaining the skills necessary to work in a professional setting.
<< "Professionals" are always licensed. Period.
