How Often Do Athletes Return to Contact Sports After Knee Surgery?

Question by Aafsfsdafsad Fsafsafda: How often do athletes return to contact sports after knee surgery?
To be more specific, I’m talking about football. I got a knee injury and slightly tore my ACL, PCL and meniscus. Doctor told me that surgery isn’t necessary, but that it was recommended if I wanted to be active ever again, if not I’m doomed to a knee brace and no sports for life.

I’m just worried in the prognosis, everyone have told me different things, ranging from “you’re screwed for life” to “you’ll the same as before in 6 months”. I want a realistic answer.

Usually, acl and knee surgeries take 1 year to recover from, sometimes a little longer depending on how your physical therapy goes.
Derrick Rose of the Chicago Bulls got injured during the playoffs last year, he will be lucky if he comes back at all this year, they think maybe the playoffs, but they want him 100% so they may wait longer…
