Why Do Cranial/Visceral Osteopaths Claim “Therapeutic Touch” Works?

Question by Apropos: Why do Cranial/Visceral Osteopaths Claim “Therapeutic Touch” works?
In answer to my question:
“What is it about UK-trained osteopaths which leave them so gullible to every quack imposture, from Cranial Therapy, to Homeopathy, to Therapeutic Touch, and now Visceral Techniques? Do they get no training in the scientific method at all??”

One Cranial/Visceral Osteopath replied:
“Therapeutic value of touch has been well researched and is well established. No one would deny that touch heals unless that someone leads an empty life without physical contact.”

Oh, my goodness!
“Therapeutic Touch Therapy” is a specific technique used by some nurses, masseurs, and osteopaths whereby the “therapist” waves his hands over a patient, draws “negative energy” from the patient’s body, through the air, and into his fingertips. The therapist then walks away, taking the patient’s disease with him…

Even ASA, a USA provider of Chiropractor-based Medical Heath Plans (which includes acupuncturists, massage therapists, naturopaths, etc), with ~80 million customers and ~28,000 “Plan Providers”, draws the line at Therapeutic Touch, refuses to pay for TT treatment, and excludes from its Provider Lists anyone who practices Therapeutic Touch:

ASHA CLINICAL PRACTICE GUIDELINE 106, Rev 3, June 18, 2010
“ASHA clinical committees have determined that Therapeutic Touch Therapy is not established as clinically effective, is not professionally recognized, poses a health and safety risk through Substitution Harm and Labeling Effects, and is considered to be scientifically implausible”

THESE ARE CHIROPRACTORS dissing Therapeutic Touch!

Therapeutic Therapy cannot be defended, even by chiropractors. Why do UK-trained osteopaths believe this nonsense?

Well who ever said that either doesn’t understand what therapeutic touch is, or is a quack/crank.

EDIT: @nemesis_de_apropos, so – ask the osteopath extraordinaire if he thinks Therapeutic Touch is quackery or not.
