Gift for Aunt in Nursing Home?

Question by : Gift for aunt in nursing home?
My aunt is in a “rehab” center. She is in a wheelchair and unable to use her hands much. She can barely lift her head. I’d like to take her something pleasant to look at. I thought maybe flowers? Any ideas?

How about magazines? If she can read them, then a stack of magazines or a few large-print books might go over well. Why not ask her what she’d like, see if she’d appreciate some library books? You can also get a little mp3 player and put some tunes from her 20’s on it as a surprise. Do a search for top-40 songs of that era, and start buying and saving them. Make sure it’s an mp3 player that has big buttons and is easy to use. Getting an older one or a cheapy that’s “oversized” might be a good choice. Even burning a neat CD of old songs and getting her a player could be very appreciated.

And the wisest thing? Call the staff there and ask for some suggestions! :) Hiring Merry Maids for a visit about a week after she gets home might be a fantastic gift!
