Has Anyone Had Hip Replacement Surgery and Can Tell Me More About This?
Question by Jo: Has anyone had hip replacement surgery and can tell me more about this?
Ok, Im not having this surgery, but my aunt is and she wants me to come stay with her while she recovers. Apparantly after surgery she will be in the hospital for a week and then she will need me when she comes home…
Im just wondering what I can expect? I know this will sound horrible, but Im worried, I mean, will she need help in the bathroom (taking care of herself?) or do you think that she could do this on her own? I dont want to ask her because she will undoubtedly be offended by that question..
Thanks for reading. (:
Its wonderful when I get answers from people who realy do know! =) You are correct, she is going into a therapy before going home, my mom just reminded me of this.
Thank you very much for taking the time to answer! :)

Hi Cara,
If your aunt is otherwise healthy, she should do very well. She should be able to take care of herself in the bathroom department. She may just need your assistance getting to and from the bathroom. She will need you to drive her to and from doctors appointments; help with grocery shopping, taking out the garbage; just normal routine things that we take for granted everyday!
You were right; she should be in the hospital five to seven days, but usually we send out patients to an orthopedic rehab facility for another week, before going home. Check with your aunt to make sure that is not happening.
She will do well and so will you! Good luck to both of you.
