A bachelors degree is required and attain a minimum of 2.75 GPA or above cumulative and in your pre-reqs(3.0 or above preferred). The degree can be in any major but you have to make sure to do your prerequisites. Again these are minimum GPA’s, some PT schools look for 3.3-3.5 GPA. The pre-reqs are 1 year of bio/lab, 1yr of chem/lab, 1 yr of physics/lab, 1 yr of anatomy & physiology/lab OR 1 semester of physiology/lab & 1 semester of Anatomy/lab and Statistics. You’ll also need to shadow a PT, some PT schools require you to shadow PT’s in different Clinical Settings(outpatient & inpatient), and You’ll need letters of recommendation from at least 1 PT. Some schools require Letters from two PT’s. Also most PT schools require the GRE, and you should attain a minimum score of 400 in the verbal and math section(800 in total) and a 3.5 in the analytical section. Some schools want a minimum GRE score of 1000(500 in each section). Most PT students major in Biology or Exercise Science. Most PT schools require an Interview, so plan ahead. NOTE: Do not do any of your Pre-reqs at a community college, PT admissions do not like this and may even ask you to retake them at a college university. Also remember PT admissions not only look at grades but also what school you got your undergrad degree, Is it a hard prestigious university or research university?? Or did you go to a college unheard of or wasted 2 yrs at a community college??. These Factors do play a role.
