Long term rehab

Long term treatment is highly recommended for people who have severe additions to drugs mainly because it just may take longer to treat the damage done by the long term drug abuse.

There are many different drug treatment programs that are available in each drug rehab center. The treatment program you choose would depend on how long the drugs were abused and how much of the drug was used.

Most drug treatment programs have both impatient and outpatient programs. For addictions that are not so severe, outpatient programs may be suggested. This type of program allows the drug addicted person to go home after treatment. Outpatient treatment programs seem to work well for most people, however if your drug addiction is more severe then an impatient program would be recommended. In this program the drug addict lives among other addicts in a drug free environment. They are also under the supervision of trained professional counselors. If you have tried both of these methods several times you may want to go to long term drug rehab.

There are different methods used in these drug treatment centers to help the drug addicts get over their drug addictions. A couple of the methods that are offered would be individual and group therapy, skill building exercises, family visitation, and trust activities.

Some drug treatment centers use outside groups such as Narcotics or Alcoholics Anonymous. Drug addiction is a disease and requires the assistance of professionals just like the treatment of any other disease such as diabetes or even cancer.

The treatment center I went to made it mandatory to attend 90 meetings in 90 days, attend group twice weekly, and have individual drug addiction therapy once per week. We were also required to work and pay rent or go to school. If you did not do either you were required to do community service.

I chose to go back to school. I was interested in addiction so being that I am a recovering addict I decided to pursue a degree in Social Work. I am still clean and am still going to school and I am currently getting very close to graduating with a Bachelors degree in Social Work. This is just one of the many benefits that I have received from long term drug treatment.

These are all just suggestions that you can either take or not. But it is my hope that you will at least think about getting some help if you have a problem with drug addiction.
