Physical Therapy Extension?

Question by gfeckle: Physical therapy extension?
I have been through a lot with my knee. I initially dislocated my patella, went to therapy for that, which didn’t getter, so I tried physical therapy for a while as a last resort before knee surgery since my surgeon recommended that route. I had knee surgery and did physical therapy after that. I took a 2 month break from it back in April. My knee has not improved and I have been diagnosed with RSD, which causes pain, stiffness, swelling, weakness, etc in my knee. We want to try physical therapy again this time coupling it with a NSAID and lyrica-type drug regime to build my muscle up which in turn would hopefully resolve other problems. Thing is I am almost up to the limit my insurance allows. Is there a way with a doctor’s note or pt note to get an extension?

I have tried a home exercise program too and would continue to supplement it with formal pt. We feel that my knee will work harder in pt and I will be able to know when and how to progress instead of doing it all on my own.

Thanks

Hi. I’m really sorry about your diagnosis. I developed CRPS/RSD 11 years ago following knee surgery and in recent years it has spread to involve most of my body.

I’m afraid I can’t help with your question as such but if you ever want/need to vent about the CRPS side of things, or have any CRPS-related questions (as far as treatments go, I’ve been there, done that and long since given the t-shirt away) please feel free to email me.
